Areas to Live in Nottingham

If you are planning to rent property in Nottingham or make a permanent move to the area you will probably want to know a bit more about the different areas there are to live in Nottingham. Arboretum

This tends to be an area that students live in as it is very close to the city centre campus. More suited to young couples who will appreciate having all the shops and nightspots on their door step.

Beeston

The area of Beeston is almost a town on its own rather than a district of Nottingham. It has a shopping centre and a busy high street. Buses and trains provide access to the centre of Nottingham, but you will find most things you will need in Beeston including a park that is ideal for children in the Summer.

Clifton

Not to far away from the city centre, this area is dominated by a large 1950s housing estate. The area has supermarkets close by and has regular bus services that take you to the centre and around Nottingham.

Dunkirk

Located near the main campus for the University of Nottingham, it is a fairly quiet area but does have large amount of students living there. To cater for the students, the area has plenty of amenities and activities such as bowling, cinemas and a post office. Shopping in the area is provided by a Sainsburys and other smaller shops. Sports can be played at the Highfields Park which has tennis and hockey facilities and plenty of recreational space.

Lenton

This area is another popular area with students making it extremely busy at times, but very quiet in the summer. As it is a student area, many police schemes have been started that make the area safer. There are plenty of amenities such as a cinema, pubs, restaurants and takeaway business in the area. One of the best places to enjoy in the quieter summer time is the Lenton Recreation Ground that has many lawns to relax on in the sun.

The Meadows

This area has a strange combination of an estate with high rises and confusing alleys, but the Old Meadows is home to roomy terraces with great views of Victoria Embankment. This is one of the cheapest areas to live in the Nottingham area and you can access the centre by bus or on foot. The Embankment is home to various festivals and events during the summer months.

The Park and Canning Circus

One of Nottinghams premier locations to live in the city, this private residential estate is fairly exclusive. Residents benefit from permit holder parking, and low numbers of students. Canning Circus is close to the city and has many shops and restaurants in the area. No Buses run through the park, but this isnt to much of a problem as it is close to the city centre.
