Identify the early signs of pregnancy

Women who are trying to conceive always look out for the first possible signs to show they are pregnant. The very early signs of pregnancy are easily noticed, but these signs are also related to the symptoms of pending menstrual cycle.

Here are few things you should keep in mind when you are trying to conceive:
• The conception of a fetus occurs within the first 24 hours of ovulation.
• Usually, women do not get to know that they are pregnant until their menstrual cycle is missed.
• The doctors recommend that the pregnancy test should ideally be taken after 2 weeks of ovulation.
• You can only confirm pregnancy after 2 weeks of conception.

Sometimes these two weeks seem a very long time to wait to confirm if one is pregnant or not. Many women try to find out of their status within these two weeks itself. Each woman has a different body and thus will experience different signs of pregnancy. These symptoms could start from the date of conception right till the end or one might not face them at all.

Each pregnancy is different and so brings different symptoms as well. Women who have given birth to 2 or more children experience different symptoms in each of their pregnancies.

Here are some of the earliest signs of pregnancy:
• Breast: Your breast may seem swollen up or even tender to touch. This occurs because of the preparation of the body to produce milk. Apart from this you could see darkening of the areolas.
• Cramps: Even during the time of the usual menstrual cycle, women experience cramps. This is due to the swelling up of the uterus to receive the fertilized egg.
• Fatigue: During pregnancy, surplus hormones are found in the body. The side effect of such high levels of estrogen and progesterone is extreme fatigue, especially if the woman is conceiving for the first time.
• Craving or aversions: Sometimes, women feel sudden cravings or aversions for foods that werent there before.
• Urination: This is experienced by women in the first trimester and the last trimester. The uterus swells up during ovulation and this exerts pressure on the bladder. Later on in the pregnancy, as the baby grows, it lifts off the bladder giving it some relief during the second trimester.
• High body temperature: Because of the high level of progesterone in the body during the pregnancy, the body temperature shoots up a few notches. This case remains till a few weeks of implantation. This is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy.
• Implantation spotting: Post ovulation, there are chances of bleeding due to implantation. This might happen during the first week after ovulation. The spotting happens due to the burrowing of the fertilized egg into the uterine lining.
• Sickness: The hormones can also cause the pregnant woman to suffer from morning sickness.

An important point to keep in mind is that it is possible to have these early signs of pregnancy and not be pregnant. It could be due to many other reasons like the impending menstrual cycle, exhaustion, stress, etc. The only accurate way of checking for pregnancy is absence of menstrual cycle and a positive result of a pregnancy test.
