Using The Art Of Hypnosis To Influence Others

When we think of hypnosis, we think of stage shows, of people pretending to be clucking chickens, or of some fictitious charismatic figure who’s able to sway mass amounts of people to do their bidding. The art of hypnosis has many preconceived misconceptions and beliefs, and it’s easy to dismiss hypnosis without first conducting some form of inquiry into the subject.

The truth of the matter is that Hypnosis is used each and every day by people from all walks of life. From advertisers and political leaders, right through to every day people that use it help make their day as rewarding and productive as possible.

What most people don’t realise, is that they’ve most likely been hypnotized at some point previously in their lives. When someone attends a hypnotherapist they’re willingly being hypnotized. They’re aware of what the hypnotherapist is doing to them and they accept the suggestions that the hypnotherapist gives them.

If however we’re not willingly being hypnotized by a hypnotist, then we’re resistant to hypnosis. When we’re walking around each day, minding our own business, we’re much less likely to willingly accept the suggestions of some random stranger. This is where the art of covert hypnosis comes in.

Covert hypnosis is the ability to hypnotize people without them being aware of it. When we have a chance encounter with someone, say a random guy or girl that we find interesting, it’s usually up to our communicational abilities in order to establish some form of rapport or friendship with the person.

With covert hypnosis however, we’re able to subconsciously plant cues within the person we’re speaking so that they feel a natural form of rapport towards us, without us having to be great communicators. This use of covert hypnosis is achieved by overloading what’s called the ‘critical mind’ of the person we’re speaking to. Whilst the process is much too complex to explain within this article, the goal of a hypnotist is basically to overload the critical mind of a person by confusing them slightly, using what’s called ‘misdirection’, whilst still coming across charming and interesting.

This confusion is caused by making the person think that they’re not interpreting something correctly, and when they’re in this state of confusion, we quickly plant suggestions within the person’s subconscious. We may tell a person we have briefly confused that ‘you’re quite attractive’ and then immediately proceed the conversation with something else. It will be as if you didn’t say the suggestion at all. In the mind of the person you’re speaking to, the words ‘You’re quite attractive’ wouldn’t register within their conscious, but would register within their subconscious.

Since the person will perceive a compliment from you that they can’t consciously remember that you gave them, the person will feel a subconscious warmth and rapport with you that you wouldn’t have otherwise achieved.

This is an example of using the art of hypnosis to hypnotize another person into liking you in some way. With more advanced forms of covert hypnosis (often referred to as ‘conversational hypnosis’) you’ll be able to take further steps to hypnotize a person into doing certain things for you.

Brain Exercise That Boosts Your Psychic Intuition

Can you boost your psychic intuition with brain exercise? You’ll find out shortly.

We are all intuitive creatures by design. Everyone is capable of varying degree of intuition. Research has found that high level of intuitive ability is a critical success factor in career and life. The question is: How to strengthen the muscle of your psychic intuition?

What is the brain exercise that can increase your intuitive power? The answer is: Drawing!

How can drawing increase your psychic intuition? First, let’s understand this from the point of how drawing functions as a brain exercise.

Drawing is a whole skill that makes up of a group of component skills, namely, the skills of perception of:

1. Edges
2. Spaces
3. Relationships
4. Lights and shadows
5. Whole, or gestalt

These perceptual skills become integrated into a whole skill that determines your ability to draw. Once you learn the principles of these skills, you can learn to draw relatively quickly.

In the process of learning to draw, your brain goes through a complex chain of brain exercise to learn how to control the way it handles information. The benefit of learning to draw is to link to other activities and the possibility of seeing things differently by tapping into your right-brain.

Understanding How Left-Brain and Right-Brain Work

Now, let’s go a step further to explain what is right-brain and left-brain.

The right-brain relies on nonverbal cues to process perceptions. It’s good at tasks that require the ability to see similarities, to make connections, to understand how parts fit together as a whole, and to perceive overall patterns instantaneously. It is capable of drawing insights that come from non-linear, multi-dimensional mode of brain exercise.

On the other hand, the left side of the brain excels at verbal, analytical, rational and logical tasks. It’s the dominant buddy of the right-brain, taking over most of the brain’s normal activities, especially when you are at serious work. It is the master of planning and systematic works. It has a penchant for using words to describe and define, figuring things out step by step, drawing conclusions based on facts and logic, and thinking in a linear way.

Despite being a linear thinker that has limited scope of thinking, the left-brain takes over most of our daily tasks. Only in situations when it finds a particular job undesirable, or if a certain task takes too much time, is too detailed or slow or simply too difficult, then the left side gives up.

If you want the right-brain, which is more creative and intuitive, to be involved more in your thinking process, you must create chances for it to participate. The trick is to present tasks in a way that discourage the left-brain, and hence create opportunities for the right-brain to demonstrate its capability.

When you engage in drawing, you create the chance for the right-brain to gain dominance. If you do it regular as a hobby, drawing is a powerful brain exercise that can increases your psychic intuition.

More Advance Way To Develop Your Psychic Intuition

One technique designed by Dr. Betty Edwards to develop subconscious intuitive power through drawing, is to draw with your non-dominant hand looking at images that are upside down.

The rationale is: This puts the left brain in a state of confusion so that it can’t easily decipher shapes, lost its top-bottom orientation, unable to attach labels and categorize them to match stored memories. This process creates an opportunity to integrate your right-brain and allows it to become dominant. When presented with a confusing image, the left-brain gives up and the right-brain takes over.

You have probably heard of the saying that the best way to deal with a challenging issue is to sleep on it.

This problem-solving tactics is based on the same argument discussed above. After a long hard day cracking at the problem without success, the left-brain is exhausted. This is the perfect chance for the intuitive and creative right-brain to flex its muscle. It will sneak into the thinking space and come up with solutions that seem to have come from “The Higher Mind”.

By understanding how your brain works, you can maximize its psychic intuition capability with regular practice of this powerful brain exercise.

Getting Started With NLP

Neuro-linguistic programming involves the extensive use of effective communication to impart a positive approach to any problem, mental or physical. Neuro-linguistic programming or NLP is a communication model. To get started with NLP, both as a treatment or vocation, you need to first understand the various facets of the program and the conditions under which NLP is possible. NLP is originally designed to be an alternative approach to psychotherapy. It involves an integrated use of language, communication and behavioral change. The therapy is a perfect combination of the gestalt therapy, family systems therapy and clinical hypnosis.

The programming is aimed at developing the desired, successful patterns of behavior through designed and planned communication. It helps to change the mind sets of people and even offers then a set of techniques for application later, in different situations. The NLP strategy is used for enhancing the influence of both, personal interaction and communication. NLP is a successful model that serves in the application of psychotherapy and counseling. Getting started with NLP as a treatment option, you need to first understand the concept and keep a broad perspective. It is when you keep a clear mind that change steps in.

The ability of the chosen words, dialogue and communication-pattern to alter a situation and bring out the best in a subject largely depends on the balance between the two main components of the therapy- the mind set of the subject and the conviction of the NLP practitioner that the solution lies in positive thinking. In the case of getting started with NLP as a vocation, you have to first and foremost be convinced yourself that the practice has the power to influence. It is only when you interact with this understanding that the communication is effective.

NLP, many a times, appeals to people or is understood as a combination of neurology, linguistics and computer science. It is even marketed in some places as a new science. The application’s success lies in unproven psychological treatment of any condition, mental and physical. The evaluation of an NLP session can only be done post treatment and by considering the subject, background, experience of the practitioner and the ability of the conditioning to apply to other spheres. Today, the predominant patterns of NLP and the application are done within seminars and workshops.

There are materials such as books and audio programs on the NLP strategy easily available with a number of online and offline resources. The exercises and principles of NLP are designed to influence and bring on the desired behavioral and emotional change. As one who is getting started with NLP as a patient, it is very necessary to understand that you must be open to the depth of training and change. As an aspiring practitioner, you would have to indulge in some self conditioning to increase flexibility of behavior and emotion.

The flexibility and integration of the concept into any situation comes with the use of the right language and the willingness for self-application. NLP is an alternative treatment recognized the world over, across cultures and communities. NLP aims at generating a response to the adopted structure of the verbal communication involved and the unspoken and hence has universal appeal.

NLP And Anger Management

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming is being effectively applied to a number of issues we deal with in the normal course of our daily lives. The use of NLP for the effective management of anger has become very popular the world over. This springs from the fact that the number of cases where people go berserk with anger and get involved in the most inhuman acts is increasing at an alarming rate. Also, it has been clinically proven that anger only results in a loss of precious energy and costs you your health, without achieving anything positive. This belief in limitation that leads to the subconscious drive towards destruction can now be curbed effectively with the help of the powerful NLP tools.

The NLP approach is via empowerment. The NLP practitioner designs the course in a way as to help the subject or subjects to deal with the highlighted problem, and yet at the same time identify behavior and tools that can enhance other areas of their lives. The biggest problem around is the ignorance of one and the conscious effort not to recognize the power within to change a situation. Anger usually results from a reaction to some internal or external conflict. Most of us love to blame it on external triggers. The kind of disaster that anger is likely to be responsible for is sometimes beyond repair. If left unchecked, the constant show of anger in the business environment can lead to reduced work production and profits. The NLP tools for anger management involve introspection and identification of resources to take care of any problem.

The use of NLP for the effective management of anger helps you to learn to respond to similar situations that you blew a fuse at in the past, by remaining calm! It is not possible to always control people or situations around us. But, it is always possible to control us and this is exactly what the NLP tools used for the effective management of anger highlight. Anger, sorrow, fear and resentment only drain us of our energy. The solution lies in initiating a personal change. In is in the recognition of the true inherent human power to influence feelings and emotions that the realization dawns- you are the master of yourself! NLP practitioners use exercises that help us to understand how we empower outside forces to trigger our anger.

We allow people and situations to make us angry and behave as if we are powerless. The use of NLP for the effective management of anger helps us to identify the illusion of power and increase the awareness towards the series of unconscious triggers. The resultant shift in perspective helps us get past the biggest hurdle on our path to success- anger. NLP helps you to understand that the solution isn’t outside of you. This awareness helps us to analyze and consider our own actions and behavior. The NLP coaching or assistance helps you to learn more about yourself! The use of NLP for the effective management of anger brings on the realization that we are capable of influencing change by changing our own thought process.

NLP And Your Mentally Challenged Child

NLP or Neuro-Linguistic Programming is the re-conditioning of the mind set through the effective use of communication skill. In the case of a mentally challenged child, the technique could be applied to gene rate a positive change in your own behavior, the behavior of other family members and that of the child. Instead of questioning the condition of the child, the NLP application enables you to look at what you can learn from the challenge and how you can enhance the child’s capacity to learn from you. Neuro-Linguistic Programming helps you to evaluate and analyze your thoughts and skills and identify the tools and resources available to you to understand yourself and others in better light.

NLP is a great way of gearing up to face a difficult situation, like the one you face when dealing with your mentally challenged child. The approach is aimed at building a person’s emotional intelligence, so as to survive and positively reinforce growth even within adversity. Getting exasperated with the situation never helps. It is much better to give yourself and the child a chance than just quit. This understanding helps you to generate change and enjoy a whole new relationship that gives the mentally challenged child a friend! NLP is designed to benefit your life and enhance the lives of those around you. With the right application of the NLP principles and core concepts, you get geared with a mental tool kit that is no less than magic when applied.
